Here are some fun facts about whales that you can share with your kids!
- Firstly, Whales breathe air. They are mammals, not fish, so they must swim to the surface and breathe through blowholes on top of their heads.
- Secondly, the blue whale is the largest animal ever known. It can grow to more than 27 metres long and weigh as much as about 24 elephants.
- Additionally, some whales sing songs. A male humpback whale’s song can last for around half an hour, and the song changes over time.
- Fourthly, some whales can live for more than 200 years. Bowhead whales are among the longest-living mammals on Earth.
- Finally, some whales have baleen instead of teeth. Baleen works like a giant filter, helping whales collect tiny animals such as krill from the water.
How to Download the Whale Colouring Pages
Firstly, choose the whale picture that you would like to colour. Next, select the download button beneath the image.
Open the downloaded file and print it on A4 paper. Standard printer paper works well with crayons and colouring pencils.
However, slightly thicker paper may be better for felt-tip pens or paint. Before printing, check that your printer uses the correct paper size. Select ‘fit to page’ if part of the design is missing.
Creative Ways to Use These Whale Printables
