Just because you’re a stay at home mom (SAHM) doesn’t mean that your clothes need to be dull, shabby, or neglected. These stay at home mom outfit ideas will spruce up your collection and your style!
This post is all about stay at home mom outfit ideas
The truth is some stay-at-home moms do work from home but also have outside errands such as going to the supermarket, going to the park, going for lunch, etc. Plus, even if you’re indoors most of the week, it is still a reason to look presentable for yourself and also to harness positive mental health.ย This is a big part of self care too!
It means, you value and respect yourself enough to look presentable. Not for others, but rather for yourself!
I’ve put together 7 wardrobe essentials that I believe every stay at home mom needs. These products prioritise functionality, efficiency and comfort while making you look well put together.
1. Outwear Pieces:
These pair well with just about anything (plain jeans or t-shirts) while still allowing you to look well put together. Outwear pieces are often described as toppers. These include blazers, cotton cardigans, and denim jackets. Pair a cardigan with a T-shirt, blue jeans and comfortable indoor footwear.
2. Amped-up T-Shirt:
This is graduating from an ordinary T-shirt to one thatโs more of a refined blouse like a roomy sleeveless, waved sleeve, or scoop neck definitions. This will create an added spark to your everyday look. Not only do they look incredibly feminine, they add an element of elegance and class to a simple pair of jeans.
3. Leggings:
Perhaps the comfiest and cosiest of all bottom-wears are leggings. Leggings are a quick and easy go-to but at this point itโs time to change it up a bit. Wearing leggings for your workout or paring it with a cosy large sweater dress is the perfect way for mellowing down in the evenings with a good book and a hot cup of Tea.
4. Ponte Pants:
Ponte pants are a great alternative to leggings. They fit similar but the details are more pant-like enhancing your look with polished perfection and sure comfort. Jeggings are also another quick go-to option to replace leggings and still look chic.ย On the days you have a lot of outside errands, pair a pair of Ponte pants with a flowy blouse for a feminine touch. These also pair well with a simple white T-shirt.
5. The classic Denim:
Having denims as part of your wardrobe is a key essential not only for a SAHM but fashion in general. This is because they are versatile and quickly give the classy attire you desire. Dark-colored denim is easily dressed up or down and can be paired with just about anything.ย Remember to alternate the colours for contrast. While lighter denims or washed denims pair with just about anything, darker denims should be worn with lighter tops.
6. Shoe upgrade:
Being a SAHM means being on your feet… a lot. There is constant running around the home and doing errands which is why you need footwear that’s not only comfortable but looks good too. Try shoes with block heels (enough to give a lift but remain comfortable), the less bulky sneakers, and a tan shoe that affords neutrality.ย
7. Accessories for mom:
For every job there are certain products or items that help make that job more efficient and less stressful. It’s the same with being a stay at home mom. These are some of things I recommend having on your person to make your days easier.
A phone bag or a body pouch carry all your essentials including keys, mobile, cash and cards. By wearing it as part of your everyday attire, even at home means you are ready to leave the house if needed at a moments notice. This actually makes you more flexible. The others like a decent sized water bottle keeps you hydrated during the day. You can fill it with flavoured Teas to make hydrating more palatable. And lastly, a smart watch to keep track of your steps to make sure you’re getting enough of a work out each day.
These are pretty much what I have worn over the course of my SAHM life, and continue to wear some of them at home even today. Being put together is self care and self love.
