Raccoons are easy to recognise because of their dark facial markings, ringed tails and fluffy coats. Therefore, they make especially fun characters for colouring activities.

Children can use realistic shades of grey, brown, black and cream. Alternatively, they could create pink, blue, purple or rainbow-coloured raccoons.

Print one page for a quick activity or download the complete collection. You could also place several pictures in a folder to create a homemade raccoon colouring book.

Here are some fun facts about racoons that you can share with your kids!

  1. Firstly, Raccoons have very clever paws. Their front paws have five sensitive toes, which help them pick up food, open objects and climb trees.
  2. Secondly, they look like tiny masked bandits. Raccoons have black markings around their eyes and dark rings around their fluffy tails.
  3. Additionally, Raccoons are usually awake at night. They often sleep during the day, although they may sometimes come out while the sun is shining.
  4. Fourthly, they eat many different foods. Raccoons are omnivores, so they may eat fruit, nuts, insects, frogs, fish and crayfish.
  5. Finally, Raccoons are excellent climbers. Their flexible toes and sharp claws help them climb trees and explore high places.

How to Download the Raccoon Colouring Pages

Firstly, choose the raccoon picture that you would like to colour. Next, select the download button beneath the image.

Open the downloaded file and print it on A4 paper. Standard printer paper works well with crayons and colouring pencils.

However, slightly thicker paper may be better for felt-tip pens or paint. Before printing, check that your printer uses the correct paper size. Select ‘fit to page’ if part of the design is missing.

Creative Ways to Use These Raccoon Printables

These free pages can become part of several fun woodland activities.

For example, children could cut out their finished raccoons and place them on a homemade forest background. They could then add trees, leaves, mushrooms, rocks and fluffy clouds.

Alternatively, children could give each raccoon a name. Afterwards, encourage them to invent a short story about the raccoon’s woodland adventures.

Another idea is to turn the pages into a colouring book. Simply print several designs, add a cover and staple the pages together.

Finally, you can laminate a favourite picture. As a result, your child can colour it again using suitable washable or dry-wipe pens.

Make a Colourful Woodland Display

Finished pictures can become cheerful decorations for a bedroom, playroom or classroom.

Arrange several pages together to create a colourful raccoon gallery. You could also attach the pictures to a piece of string with small wooden pegs.

In addition, children can draw their own backgrounds before displaying their artwork. For instance, they might create an autumn forest, a cosy tree hollow or a peaceful campsite.
