Sloths are fascinating animals with shaggy fur, long claws and gentle expressions. Therefore, they make especially sweet characters for colouring activities.

Children can use realistic shades of brown, grey, cream and green. Alternatively, they could create pink, blue, purple or rainbow-coloured sloths.

Here are some fun facts about sloths that you can share with your kids!

  1. Firstly, Sloths can swim surprisingly well. They may look clumsy on land, but they can paddle through water with ease.
  2. Secondly, they spend most of their lives upside down. Sloths can eat, sleep and even give birth while hanging from tree branches.
  3. Additionally, tiny plants can grow in their fur. Algae may give a sloth’s coat a greenish colour, which helps it blend into the rainforest.
  4. Fourthly, Sloths digest food very slowly. A meal can take up to a month to move through a sloth’s digestive system.
  5. Finally, they usually climb down to go to the toilet only once a week. Most of the time, they stay safely high in the trees.

How to Download the Sloth Colouring Pages

Firstly, choose the sloth picture that you would like to colour. Next, select the download button beneath the image.

Open the downloaded file and print it on A4 paper. Standard printer paper works well with crayons and colouring pencils.

However, slightly thicker paper may be better for felt-tip pens or paint. Before printing, check that your printer uses the correct paper size. Select ‘fit to page’ if part of the design is missing.

Creative Ways to Use These Sloth Printables

These free pages can become part of several fun rainforest activities.

For example, children could cut out their finished sloths and place them on a homemade jungle background. They could then add trees, vines, flowers, butterflies and fluffy clouds.

Alternatively, children could give each sloth a name. Afterwards, encourage them to invent a short story about the sloth’s rainforest adventures.

Another idea is to turn the pages into a colouring book. Simply print several designs, add a cover and staple the pages together.

Finally, you can laminate a favourite picture. As a result, your child can colour it again using suitable washable or dry-wipe pens.

Make a Colourful Rainforest Display

Finished pictures can become cheerful decorations for a bedroom, playroom or classroom.

Arrange several pages together to create a colourful sloth gallery. You could also attach the pictures to a piece of string with small wooden pegs.

In addition, children can draw their own backgrounds before displaying their artwork. For instance, they might create a tropical rainforest, a cosy treetop home or a colourful jungle garden.
